Angelo Kondos is Holroyd Business Person of the Year.
Mr Kondos is the principal of Tracy Roberts Real Estate at Wentworthville.
‘‘It’s an honour,’’ Mr Kondos said.
‘‘I had no idea this was going to happen.
‘‘I was so excited to get it’’
He said it was a fitting chapter in a short journey from when he started his agency in 2010.
‘‘I’ve grown the business from two staff to 12 today,’’ Mr Kondos said.
‘‘When I was working for other people I knew one day I would run my own business, so I made a list of the things that should and shouldn’t happen with it.’’
Top priority: no office politics.
‘‘When I hire people I always stress that I won’t have anyone playing politics in the office,’’ Mr Kondos said.
‘‘I never talk about staff to other staff.’’
He said he always follows up on inquiries, be they from prospective buyers or sellers.
‘‘Some agents won’t call back because they feel they’ll get another client, but none of the calls to my office go unanswered,’’ he said.
Mr Kondos said he enjoyed the real estate industry because he liked meeting people and helping them.
‘‘It’s not just about selling homes; it’s about helping people,’’ he said.
Mr Kondos thanked his staff for helping to make the business and his family for being so supportive.
