Man charged over Westmead break-in

A man faced court on Saturday after allegedly being caught by police while breaking into a Westmead unit block.

About 7.30pm Friday, police were called to Beryl Street following reports a man was scaling the roof of a unit complex.

On arrival officers from Parramatta police saw the man who allegedly ran through a unit and climbed over a balcony onto the outside of the railing.

After a short time the 31-year-old man climbed back onto the balcony and was arrested by police.

He was charged with break enter and steal, malicious damage and armed with intent to repeat serious indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear in court Saturday.
