Woman charged over verbal abuse on train

A Merrylands West woman has been charged after allegedly verbally abusing passengers on a train this month.

On Friday April 18, police were given footage of an alleged incident on a train between Town Hall and Bondi Junction.

The footage shows a woman allegedly verbally abusing other passengers on the train.

The incident is believed to have occurred on Tuesday, April 8.

Police Transport Command officers viewed the footage and launched an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries and information received from the public, investigators attended a home in Merrylands West on Monday April 21.

They spoke to a 28-year-old woman at the home before issuing her a field court attendance notice for offensive language.

She will appear in court on May.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing and police are urging anyone who witnessed it, or similar behaviour, to contact investigators.
