Station gets more parking

MORE than 120 car parking spaces will be made available at Canley Vale station.

Transport Minister Gladys Berejiklian and Smithfield MP Andrew Rohan last week announced there would be a multi-storey car park built at the site.

The car park and accessibility upgrade is part of the state's $770 million Transport Access Program.

Ms Berejiklian said the car park would replace the existing street-level council car park on Fornasier Lane.

"The rebuilt car park will also include some timed spaces for shoppers and will feature a range of customer safety and accessibility features including stair and lift access between floors, security lighting and CCTV," she said.

A review of environmental factors was on public exhibition last month. It provides details of the commuter car park, potential project impacts and how these will be managed.

"The community has taken the opportunity to have their say and all this feedback will now be considered before the project is submitted for planning approval and then proceeds to construction later this year," Mr Rohan said.

The project includes improvements to both the First Avenue and Railway Parade sides of the station.
