Teenager charged over Merrylands stabbing

A teenager will appear in court today charged with stabbing a man multiple times in Merrylands last night.

About 9:15pm on Wednesday,  police were called to Merrylands Road following reports a man had been stabbed.

Police will allege a 40-year-old man was sitting in his car parked on Miller Street when he became involved in a verbal argument with another man who was walking past.

He got out of his car and was allegedly confronted by the 19-year-old man who stabbed him in the leg and then fled the scene.

The injured man drove to Merrylands Road where he allegedly became involved in another argument with the same man and was stabbed a further two times.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and the 40-year-old man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment of stab wounds to his leg, hip and chest.

A short time later police found the 19-year-old man in a car park.

He was arrested and taken to Merrylands Police Station where he was charged with recklessly cause grievous bodily harm and refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court on Thursday.
