Western Sydney Wanderers worried over recent losses

THE Western Sydney Wanderers head into the last four rounds of the A-League matches in an unusual position — desperate for a win.

Following their 0-0 draw against Adelaide on Saturday night at Parramatta, the Wanderers return there this Sunday to host the Perth Glory at 5pm.

After being in second spot for almost the entire season, the Wanderers have now slipped to third, overtaken by Melbourne Victory.

And just one and two points behind them lurk the Mariners and cross town rivals Sydney FC, so Tony Popovic's side will need to be on their game against the western Australians.

The Wanderers are also at home this Wednesday night for another Asian Champions League match, this time against Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale.

Their A-League run home sees them away to the Central Coast Mariners, home to Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Heart away in the final round.

Only a disaster in the last four rounds will see the Wanderers miss the finals, but grabbing that vital second spot now looks like an almighty challenge.
