Man in court today after threatening to stab woman in Canley Vale

A man will appear in court today after allegedly threatening to stab a woman during a domestic dispute at Canley Vale last night.

About 5.30pm, Tuesday, February 25, a man and woman were at a unit on Clifford Avenue when they became involved in a verbal argument.

During the incident the man allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened the 45-year-old woman.

She ran out of the unit into the stairwell where the man allegedly chased her and pinned her up against a wall while armed with the knife.

Their 12-year-old son intervened and during the incident sustained a laceration to his foot.

Cabramatta police attended the scene and arrested the 47-year-old man.

He was later charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence (grievous bodily harm), reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and intimidation.

He was also served with an apprehended violence order and refused bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court today, Wednesday, February 26.
