Pride in hard work

Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta's HSC class achieved fantastic results in last year's exams. Principal Kitty Guerin said the college was delighted with the results.

"It's so great to see the girls' hard work pay off with such fantastic marks which will enable them to go on and pursue their dreams," she said. "We very much believe anything is possible for Mercy girls and we are so proud of them."

Student Alana Leabeater achieved a 99.65 ATAR, made the All Rounders list and achieved fifth in the state for PDHPE and fourth in the state for studies of religion.

After a gap year working at a boarding school in England, Miss Leabeater hopes to study for a bachelor of sports science and international studies at the University of Technology Sydney.

Deputy principal of teaching and learning, Tanya Appleby said the college took great pride in acknowledging the success students achieved through their efforts and talents.

"This success is a clear indication of their commitment to Mercy values, pursuit of excellence, strong work ethic and support of others," she said. "Our excellent teaching staff have worked to inspire, motivate and engage these students to achieve and meet their potential."
