What's on this Australia Day 

Holroyd’s Australia Day celebrations will take place at Merrylands Swim Centre from 10am to 3pm and continue at Merrylands Park from 5pm to 8.30pm.

 Highlights of the day include:

Merrylands Pool party

10am to 3pm

Start your Australia Day celebrations with a splash at the annual Merrylands Pool Party. Find a spot by the pool, or in it, and listen to all your favourite summer tracks while the kids enjoy the popular Adventure Swamp Fun Run.

Merrylands Park

5pm to 8.30pm

Merrylands Park will host a fantastic line up of music performances, shows and stalls. Get to the park early to watch the Wildlife of the Outback Spectacular and see free-flying red-tailed black cockatoos, barn owls, and galahs swoop right above your head.

 Street dance performers Beat the Streets will display their  moves  and bucket drumming skills as well as their unique high-energy style of comedy.  DJ and instrumental crews Sincopa Trio will perform modern beats mixed with classic sounds.

 Of course, there’ll be fireworks to end the day.

Parramatta’s free Australia Day celebrations will take place in Parramatta Park on Sunday from 6am to 9pm. 

Highlights of the day include:


6am to 12pm

The skies will fill with colour as a host of giant hot air balloons ascend above the park at 6am. A raft of entertainment will follow, with live music, performances and roving entertainment throughout the morning. The Aerial Carnivale will be subject to weather conditions on the morning of Australia Day. 12pm to 7pm

The Big Backyard will keep the whole family entertained with amusement rides, live entertainment, fascinating historical re-enactments, art and craft workshops, eco experiences and much more. You can visit the worm farm and take part in workshops with the portable compost display, watch historical re-enactments, cool off in the Mist Tent and get up close to Australia’s native animals.


 6pm to 9pm

Featuring Jessica Mauboy the Dig 1100 Concert will keep you dancing through the night. Supported by the Rock’n Soul Choir, the Mitchell Anderson Band and Nathan Foley as master of ceremonies, the evening will come to a spectacular finale with fireworks at 9pm. Plan your day ahead and get to the Parramatta Australia Day free Dig 1100 Concert early to avoid disappointment as there are limited spaces. Once the event is at full capacity, for safety reasons, you will not be able to gain entry.

Parramatta Leagues Club

Parramatta Leagues Club is giving one lucky member $3000 cash. To enter members will need to swipe their members card from 4pm for their chance to win. Conditions apply.


Riverside Theatres

Guildford filmmaker George Basha will show his latest feature film Convict to audiences at Riverside Theatres. The film follows the story of an Australian war veteran of Arab heritage who returns home from serving in Iraq. He soon finds himself caught up in an incident which sees him sent to jail.


Guildford Leagues Club

Guildford Leagues Club is holding a big barbecue to celebrate Australia Day. Sausage sandwiches cost $2.


Wenty Leagues

Bring the family to Wenty Leagues for an action-packed day with some real Aussie tucker and free entertainment to celebrate the day. There will be a reptile show for kids at 11am. Plus $2500 worth of raffle prizes.


Albion Hotel

Spend the afternoon in the beer garden, listening to the Safari Suits playing from 2pm.

To add to the entertainment, there will be a pie eating and thong throwing competition.


Bavarian Bier Cafe

I hope your hungry when you celebrate Australia Day at the Bavarian Bier Cafe. On the day they will serve the Ultimate Steak Sambo for $20, lamington chocolate fondant for $10 and a giant hot dog for $10.


Workers Blacktown

From noon, there will be a jumping castle and face painting for kids. There will be showbags and a sausage sizzle.


Bella Vista Hotel

Bella Vista Hotel has organised an action-packed Australia Day. From noon, there will be a petting zoo, face-painting and nail and tattoo art. Plus, live Aussie music by the Squid Munchies from 3pm until late. Details: 8884 2800

Castle Hill RSL
