Two charged for demanding money in Fairfield Heights

Police have charged two men who they allege made demands for money from a man in Fairfield Heights.

A man was at a business on The Boulevarde, Fairfield Heights, at about 7.40pm on Friday, January 25, when two men who were also at the business allegedly made threats and demanded money from him.

Police from Fairfield Local Area Command with the assistance of specialist units started an investigation and yesterday (January 31) police searched a property in Prairiewood.

Two men, 37 and 22, were subsequently arrested and charged with demand money with menaces in company.

The 22-year-old was also charged with possess prohibited drug after cannabis was allegedly located during the search warrant.

Both have been refused bail. The 37-year-old man is expected to face Fairfield Local Court today, and the 22-year-old man is expected to face Waverley Local Court today (February 1).

Commander at Fairfield, Superintendent Peter Lennon, said that without assistance from victims and witnesses, alleged crimes such as these could go unsolved.

“It is a breakthrough that people can trust their local police and confidentially pass on information about matters they see, hear, or experience," Superintendent Lennon said.
