Tony Mac heads to Queensland

Former 6PR radio talk host Tony McManus is packing his bags for Queensland.

McManus has signed on to regional station 4CA in Cairns and will start work as solo breakfast host in February.

Since leaving 6PR McManus said he had received a number of offers, but the lure of radio was too much to resist.

McManus will be replaced in Perth by Jane Marwick in the afternoon slot at 6PR.

"I'm really excited by this market in far north Queensland, which has the Great Barrier Reef only a stone's throw from our offices and I really like the idea of the breakfast format which will be talkback with some music," McManus said.

He replaces Mike "Locco" O'Loughlin who is retiring after 40 years in the business.

McManus had been at 6PR for more than 13 years.
