Caviar back on track

Black Caviar will begin preparations on Monday aimed to have her back for February's Lightning Stakes, a race she has won for the past two years. The unbeaten superstar will be on the water walker at Peter Clarke's Murchison property in country Victoria for the next five weeks.

Peter Moody expects Black Caviar to return to his Caulfield stable in January after building up her fitness on the water walker, which has played a big role in her success.

He said no risks would be taken with Black Caviar, which last raced in June's Diamond Jubilee at Royal Ascot where she chalked up her 22nd straight win. ''We're very happy with her but obviously extremely conscious of the situation we are in with her that we don't want to see her beaten now,'' Moody told Melbourne radio RSN on Sunday. ''We won't hesitate to retire her along the way, but I'm hopeful that we do get her back to the track in the great form that she's shown all along.''
