Several missed opportunities cost Bonnyrigg an opening round win against Sydney Olympic on Sunday.
Behind 1-0 after an early penalty, the White Eagles dominated large portions of the match in hot conditions at Belmore Sportsground.
South Korean import Jewook Woo finally restored parity for the visitors after half time with a deft corner kick.
But the White Eagles couldn’t land the killer blow and Olympics’ import Alejandro Lopez took his chance with eight minutes to go on the counter attack.
Bonnyrigg, who wore black arm bands in memory of skipper Ray Miller’s father who passed away during the week, battled to find the equaliser but it never came.
Coach Brian Brown said: “I think if we’re looking for positives to take away from the match the effort from the guys today was fantastic. If we play like that for the rest of the year we’ll be happy.”
This Sunday (5pm) the White Eagles host Marconi in their home opener at Bonnyrigg Sports Club.
