A majestic century from North Sydney opener Anjan Oberai ended Fairfield Liverpool’s slim final chances with a six-wicket win on Saturday.
Oberai hit 184 not out as the home team ran down the Lions total of 282 in 77 overs.
Oberai hit 26 boundaries and one six in his 233-ball innings to help Norths to only their second win of the year.
Two wickets in two balls to Liam Hatcher had the Lions on the front foot in the first session and were in the game when the hosts lost their third wicket at 92.
However Oberai took the game away from the visitors and combined with Robert Aitken (39 not out) for a 143-run partnership to seal the result.
The loss leaves the Lions in 14th place on 30 points with five wins from their 13 games.
- This Saturday they start a two-day fixture against Northern District at Rosedale Oval.
