Man charged with firearms offences at Bossley Park

Police today charged a 40-year-old man with firearm-related offences after a search on a property in Bossley Park found a bag containing a firearm and ammunition.

At 7.45am today (Tuesday, February 13), a joint police operation between Fairfield police and Bass Hill police at Yass Close, Bossley Park discovered a blue bag containing a .38 calibre revolver, a suppressor, and ammunition. The 40-year-old man was allegedly observed by police throwing the bag out a window.

He was charged with possess unregistered firearm – pistol, not keep firearm safe – pistol, possess prohibited weapon, and possess ammunition.

He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court today.

At 10am today, police detained a 27-year-old man of Prairievale Road, Bossley Park following reports that he was in possession of firearms. A search of the premises by police found an electronic control device.

The 27-year-old was detained pending further inquiries.
