Jamie Oliver’s home-cooking training program at Wetherill Park has run its course.
It’s been based at Stockland Wetherill Park but is now moving on.
“We have a broader agreement with Stockland, and the space at Wetherill Park was only for a period of time which has now come to an end,” said Camilla Speirs, on behalf of Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia.
“We recently launched our outreach program in NSW which allows us to go to multiple locations to deliver the program which means we’re accessible to more people so we’ll continue to look for new locations to deliver throughout NSW.
“We have a new chief executive, Amy Smith, who started with us late last year plus we’re about to announce a new creative director and we’re looking to change the way we deliver the program throughout Australia.”
Oliver’s home-cooking program will continue with Stockland Residential Living and fresh-food partner Woolworths.
An outreach program was recently launched at Stockland Willowdale at Leppington.
Research done here in Australia proves what we do works, so we need to reach more people and get more people cooking.Jamie Oliver
Oliver believes we have lost the art of home cooking which has led to an adverse effect on our health and our children’s future health.
He said at the time: “Research done here in Australia proves what we do works, so we need to reach more people and get more people cooking and taking care of their health.
“When you get local people to inspire local people, we can create sustained change.”
After six years and over 36,000 people through the Australian program, the overall goal for Jamie’s Ministry of Food Australia is to continue to reach more people in order to help implement food related behaviour change. The launch of the outreach program paves the way for this expansion, with extra locations planned.
The outreach program includes two seven-week courses along with a series of themed interactive demonstrations based on local demographics focusing on families and retirement living.
Demonstration topics include Easy Lunchtime Solutions, Recipes for Busy People and How to Read Food Labels.
Dedicated food trainers deliver the program teaching participants Jamie’s hints, tips and shortcuts.
