SWITCHED ON | Free Wi-Fi in Canley Heights

Checking Facebook while enjoying dinner at Canley Heights has become a lot easier with Fairfield Council and Telstra teaming up to provide free public Wi-Fi.

Residents and visitors can access 30-minutes of free public Wi-Fi a day from any mobile device.

The coverage is within a 50 metre radius of hotspots at 204, 217 and 235 Canley Vale Road.

Fairfield mayor Frank Carbine said access to the internet is a “fundamental part” of modern life.

“People will be able to check their emails, update social media or browse the web,” he said.

Dimitri Polydorou, General Manager, Telstra Air, said: “The project is another example of Telstra partnering with local councils to deliver innovative programs and expand services. The availability of Public Wi-Fi means locals and tourists can connect and share experiences online as well as allowing businesses to benefit by attracting and retaining visitors to their locations.”

Unlimited free public Wi-Fi is also available at each of Council’s Open Libraries branches at Fairfield, Cabramatta, Bonnyrigg, Smithfield and Wetherill Park.
