Everyone is urged to be loud and proud this Friday.
North Parramatta resident Stephanie Mair is spreading the word about Loud Shirt Day, The Shepherd Centre’s major fundraiser to provide early intervention to hearing impaired children. A lack of funding means many miss out on the assistance, which costs $18,000 per child.
Mrs Mair’s youngest son Andrew was two-months-old when he was fitted with an aid for moderate to severe hearing loss in his left ear. “He’s now the most happy and engaging 15-month-old,” Mrs Mair said.
“When he was diagnosed, we were worried about the difficulties he may face in the future. But that’s been all turned around, thanks to The Shepherd Centre. I’m confident Andrew will get the best shot at life and can become whatever he wants to be.”
