Time to do some work in the garden? Drop the waste at council's Spring Clean Drop-off Day

Spring is here and so it the dreaded spring clean.

To help, Fairfield Council are hosting their Spring Clean Drop-off Day on Sunday, October 22 at Fairfield Showground from 7am to 2pm.

The day gives residents a chance to get rid of old and unused bulky waste items around the home – free of charge.

Last year residents dropped off more than 39 tonnes of bulky waste, which helped to reduce litter and rubbish dumped on streets.

“Load up your boot or trailer with items such as household furniture, small kitchen appliances and general garden waste and leave them at Fairfield Showground,” mayor Frank Carbone said.

“I encourage you as a member of our community to do your bit to help keep our city clean and to take advantage of this additional means of disposing of unwanted waste for free.”

This free service is in addition to the twice yearly kerbside collection and Recycling Centre service.

Council also hosted a chemical drop-off day recently and will provide an extra recycling service during the Christmas period.
