The King Park Public School pupil won the recent under-12s Nepean Round Robin event.

The fourth seed won all her five matches and knocked off the top three seeds in the process winning the final 6-2.

In total she won 29 games and dropped just seven on the way to her first title.

Vanessa, who trains at the Marconi Tennis Academy, has now qualified for the finals of the eight-event series later in the year.

Coach Stewart Whicker said Vanessa’s win was reward for her hard work since beginning at the centre in group lessons.

“She is very consistent with her ground strokes and has great technique and is confident with what she is doing,” he said.

Marconi Tennis & Squash are hosting a school holiday sports camp on October 4,5 and 6.

The camp is open for children aged 5-15 with experienced coaches teaching tennis and other sports over the three days from 9am to 3pm. Half-day and one-day rates are available.
