Games of scrabble, guessing games and a scavenger hunt were part of the engaging activities pupils participated in at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Primary School, Fairfield to celebrate National Literacy and Numeracy Week.
Principal Brother Nicholas Harsas said the activities were designed to raise awareness of the importance of literacy and numeracy at school and beyond.
During lunch times students from kindergarten to Year 6 competed in fun and engaging one-minute games such as Scrabble Showdown, Number Cruncher and Number Dash.
The teachers got involved too, with students having to match teachers with their favourite books.
The highlight was the daily scavenger hunt took that required classes to work together to solve literacy and numeracy problems.
A puzzle piece was given for each correct answer which formed a whole school poster.
