Book Week celebrates the magic of introducing young minds to the adventures of reading. Each year schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature.

This year’s theme is Escape to Everywhere and encourages kids to jump inside the pages of their favourite books.

For William Stimson Public School, Book Week was the culmination of their reading marathon where the school community read more than 9000 books.

On the day they held a book parade set to music that matched the theme of Escape to Everywhere and teachers also read their favourite books to students in class.

Librarian Bianca Lavorato said: “Book Week is always an exciting time for our school community. This year we had competitions, a reading marathon and the exciting Book Week parade. The students did a fabulous job dressing up as the favourite book character and they know that through books, they can "Escape to everywhere!".

With book parades taking place across Fairfield we want to see your best Book Week costumes. We are calling on all schools and parents celebrating Book Week to submit their photos for our gallery. Submissions can be made to cboulous@fairfaxmedia.com.au or via the Champion’s Facebook page.
