An outdoor gym and four refurbished tennis courts along with new pathways, seating and shelter are part of the completed upgrades of St Johns Park.
Located on Edensor Road, the precinct is home to football in winter and cricket field summer. But according to Fairfield mayor Frank Carbone the upgrades make the park a “more versatile sporting complex”.
“There is something for everyone at St Johns Park whether as part of organised team sport, tennis, individual training and exercise, or walking and jogging,” Mayor Carbone said.
“St Johns Park also has mature trees, so there’s plenty of shade to watch a game or have a coffee and a chat with friends.”
Mayor Carbone visited the the new outdoor gym equipment on Thursday which was the final touch to the upgrade.
Council intends to roll out gyms in parks across the City.
“Council invests in and renews our parks and equipment to encourage our community to get out and about and be active and healthy with their families,” he said.
“St Johns Park is another example of Council’s commitment to provide high quality facilities for Fairfield City residents.”
