GALLERY | Festival of World Cups: Australia’s not so lucky win against Ireland

Australia maintained their perfect record at the Universities World Cup with a 46-8 win against Ireland at New Era Stadium on Wednesday.

The green and golds ran in nine tries to two in the rout to set a semi final showdown with old rivals England on Friday at Windsor.

England booked their spot in the final four with a 30-20 win against Scotland in game two at Cabramatta.

However they will need a big form reversal to challenge Australia who beat them 54-10 in the opening game of the tournament.

Despite the loss, Scotland finished first in pool B and will be play the Pacific Islands in the other semi final. The Pacific Islands, who lost 68-16 to Australia in their previous game, bounced back to record a 40-12 win against Wales in the final game of the triple header on Wednesday.
