Loribelle Spirovski describes the opportunity to become the Fairfield City Museum and Gallery’s Artist in Residence as “invaluable”.

The 2016 Artist in Residence encouraged local artists to apply for the 2017 residency which provides $5000 towards artist fees and a further $1000 towards materials.

It also comes with a dedicated studio from which to work and a three-month exhibition at the Stein Gallery.

“This is a truly unique artistic opportunity that is artistically rewarding and is, notably, a paid residency which is invaluable for an artist at any level of development,” she said.

“It gives you the space and facilities to really bring your artistic vision into reality, whilst giving you the chance to engage with a vibrant and diverse community.”

The residency is open to artists from across Australia and internationally, with preference given to artists living and working in western Sydney.

The residency will be available for 12 weeks from September 2017 to February 2018, culminating in an exhibition shown in the Stein Gallery for three months in 2018.

“Overall, it's been a wonderful challenge and has enabled me to grow as a practicing artist,” Ms Spirovski said.

  • To apply, artists can email their CV to museumgallery@fairfieldcity.nsw.gov.au by July 14. Applicants also need to provide a proposal of their intended work based on Fairfield City’s Indigenous and multiculturally diverse identities.
