Low winds reduce Fairfield SES workload

Fairfield experienced its biggest rainfall since June this week, but the lack of any significant winds meant the Fairfield SES were called out to only seven jobs.

The call-outs were mainly for leaking roof repairs as Fairfield copped 62 millimetres of rain on Wednesday alone.

The mean rainfall for March is usually 71 millimetres.

That could change today with Bureau of Meteorology spokesman David Barlowe saying Sydneysiders should expect a "windy" Friday afternoon and evening.

He said a low pressure trough along the NSW coast was responsible for the ongoing rain in Sydney and along the north coast.
