Fairfield Hospital emergency department nursing unit manager Belinda Pellizzon knows just how valuable cardiac monitors are.

“They are an invaluable tool to monitor cardiac patients,” she said.

“The machine talks to you and tells you when you need to defibrillate and it even tells you if your compressions are deep enough when you are doing CPR.”

Last week Fairfield Hospital received another monitor courtesy of a $10,000 donation from Thor Specialties Pty Ltd.

Fairfield Hospital now has six cardiac monitors.

The monitors detect and record abnormal heart rhythms and determines the cause of recurrent fainting, palpitations, unexplained stroke or atrial fibrillation.

“It’s great we have access to another monitor,” Ms Pellizzon said.
