Walking group with heart

IT was a night of celebrations at Wetherill Park Rotary Club's annual Pride of Workmanship awards at St Johns Park Bowling Club.

The awards allow managers to nominate and recognise the efforts of employees.

Bilijana Blagojevic and Frances Julie, Stockland Wetherill Park's customer-care officers, were among the 10 winners. They were nominated for their "hard work and dedication" towards Stockland Wetherill Park's Heart Foundation walking group.

"I had no clue about it because I thought I was going to represent the company at a function," Ms Blagojevic said of the award.

"I was so embarrassed when I got called up to receive the award," she said. "But I'm so humbled by it all."

Ms Julie said: "This award means a lot and it's great to know we're appreciated."

The group was established last year and has grown from 10 members to 60.

They meet every Tuesday and Thursday for a 30- minute walk around the centre from 8am. The walk encourages healthy lifestyles and is open to all age groups.
