FAIRFIELD'S Lana Tarek is just two steps from being crowned Miss Galaxy Australia.
The 18-year-old was recently declared a finalist in the NSW leg, and that winner will compete against other Australian finalists in March 2013.
The winner will head to Florida for the global final.
"I applied to take part in the contest out of curiosity," Ms Tarek said.
"I thought it would be a good chance to give back to charity and do something different.
"I had also entered Miss Teen Australia previously and was a regional finalist, so this will be my second pageant."
But Ms Tarek isn't just a pretty face.
She's studying law part-time, is an internal recruiter for a security agency and fundraises.
"I'm hoping to raise $3000 for the Make a Wish Foundation, so I'll be holding a warehouse clearance sale at my house from on October 27 and 28 — selling my coats, dresses, shoes and accessories," she said.
"I've also just started sponsoring a child from Zimbabwe.
"The judges will be looking at how much the contestants give back to the community."
There are five areas of judging: photographic, an interview, fashion wear, swimwear and evening gown.
