The Doltone House owners have expanded the business footprint in the entertainment function business with approval granted for the new $20 million Milperra conference centre.
Set on 16 hectares near the M5 and M7, it will include a hotel, petting zoo and wedding facilities and will take advantage of the growth in business travellers and visitors in western Sydney.
Doltone's Paul Signorelli said it has been a long time in the making and he was pleased to receive the green light.
"The area is very under-serviced at a time when demand for conferences and on-site accommodation is expanding," Mr Signorelli said.
"We see this as the next extension of our inner-city business and we believe the proposed second airport and expansion at Parramatta will see centres like this in high demand."
Sydney is gearing up for an explosion of conferences in the coming year, not just at the city-based International Convention Centre, but out in the west, which the NSW government has earmarked as a significant business zone.
"It was also a demanding process but we had our architects and advisers working hard to get it across the line. These included our architects Andrew Andersons and advice from former lord mayor of Sydney, Frank Sartor."
