A man will face court today after escaping police during a highway pursuit between Goulburn and Yass Monday afternoon.
Goulburn Traffic and Highway Patrol police tried to stop a white Hyundai Excel on the Hume Highway at Goulburn about 1pm.
Police pursued the 38-year-old driver after he allegedly failed to stop but ended the chase due to safety concerns.
Yass Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop the car in Yass about 2pm but the driver allegedly failed to stop and a second pursuit began.
During the second chase police placed a tyre deflation device on the highway about 10 kilometres south of Yass, and the car was stopped.
The driver was arrested and taken to Yass Police Station.
He was charged with a number of offences, including not stopping during a police pursuit, driving with a cancelled licence, use of an unauthorised number plate, and an outstanding warrant.
He was refused bail and will appear at Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday.
