WESTFIELDS Sports High have restored order to the softball hierarchy with victory at the recent NSW CHS knockout.
It was the school's fifth state title in six years and made amends for last year's loss in the final.
Led by the dynamic pitcher-catcher combination of Hayden Mathews and Jayden Lach, Westfields breezed through the early rounds, defeating Cronulla High 18-0 in the quarter-finals and Nepean High 14-2 in the semi-finals.
The final was a much tougher contest against longtime rivals Camden High, but in his last game for the school Lach hit a clutch home run for a 4-3 win.
Lach, Mathews and first baseman Jacob Stek are all in contention to represent the NSW under-19s team at the national championships. The trio will be joined by team-mates Izack Rossi and Tim Nazar in the NSW CHS team later this year.
