A man has beheaded a woman in New York before jumping in front of a train in what is being investigated as a murder-suicide.
NBC is reporting the woman was believed to have been the man's mother.
The body of the woman, who was in her 60s, was found outside an apartment complex in Farmingdale.
The man, who was in his 30s, was found about one kilometre away on a section of the Long Island Rail Road tracks.
Police officials have said they believed the incident was related to domestic violence. The names of the victims have not yet been released.
