IN February this year, the reopening of Plaster Fun House was the furthest thing from Brad Billings' mind.
Mr Billings is the franchisor of the well known Ballarat business which went up in flames earlier this year drawing hundreds of residents to Ballarat's CBD.
However, on Sunday Mr Billings will have an official opening in a new location for the much loved business despite admitting he wasn't sure it would happen straight away.
"Of course, straight after the fire you think you have been beaten down that much, you are constantly behind the eight ball and why you wait for the insurance you don't have any funds," he said.
However, it was just a matter of finding the right location according to Mr Billings, who said the new building was much larger than the last and now had dedicated party rooms.
"Well I am hoping we are back to where we are and people will come in," he said.
"I used to head to the old site but there was a big fence around it and I would see little kids crying at the fence, so I stopped going down there because it was depressing.
"I quite often detour out of my way now though and drive past it.
"I still drive past it and I keep in touch with the previous landlord."
The previous Grenville Street building is now demolished.
Mr Billings said he regularly received phone calls from residents asking when a new location would be up and running and the community support was one of the things that drove him to continue on with the his push to reopen.
He said the business had reopened in Delacombe shortly after the fire purely to manufacture for other fun houses.
The new building is located at 1003 Humffray street south in Mount Pleasant and will be officially open on Sunday from 10:30am.
