From Kenya to Westmead, hip hop MC 316's upbringing has shaped his sound.

"Out of everywhere I've lived Westmead has to to be my favourite," Otieno said. "I sort of draw a parallel to my hustle and the working class community of Westmead.
"The community is an actual community, from the woman at the station to the man at the convenience store who casually greets people every morning.
"That sense of community affects my music because your surroundings play a part on who you are, and who you are always shows in your music."
On September 5 the popular emcee, who migrated to Australia from Kenya when he was seven, will host an after party at Kings Cross for internationally acclaimed American hip hop artist, Hopsin.
"It's crazy to see this come to fruition," Otieno said.
"Everyone works hard and we are all chasing our dreams, to see a little bit of that come together this Friday will be reward for that hard work.
"Decypher Us member 2Face had done the groundwork and we all jumped on board and got into talks with Funk Volume (Hopsins record label) and they wanted Decypher Us hosting the event."
As he's gained recognition, Otieno has picked up a sponsor, Menace clothing. He can barely contain his excitement as he explains that his group has also just received word they will support legendary multi-platinum selling Canadian act Swollen Members.
"It's such a huge honour, they are one of my favourite groups of all time.’’
