THREE men, including a suspended NSW police officer, have been charged following an attempted robbery in Cabramatta on Monday morning.
The dramatic arrest was part of a targeted operation by the Professional Standards Command and the South West Metropolitan Region.
Acting on a tip-off , armed police and undercover detectives were waiting to catch the suspended police officer.
They had been waiting for some time when three men dressed in tradies' fluorescent gear approached a woman on John Street just after 10.30am.
In less than 30 seconds, scores of heavily armed tactical police and detectives swooped on the trio in front of Vina Money Transfer.
"They knew they [the officer and the other men] were going to be there, they were waiting," a police source told the Sydney Morning Herald.
Police said the woman was attacked during the robbery and was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
The senior constable, attached to the South West Metropolitan Region, and two other men were arrested.
