LAST month ended on an extremely high note for a group of Bonnyrigg High School's young dancers.

A group of 14 locals were part of the large group which featured in the 2014 Southern Stars performances held at WIN Entertainment Centre, Wollongong, on August 29 and 30.

Southern Stars brings together students from schools around the state. They have the task of working together to create and stage the show.

As well as offering the students a space to perform and refine their performance skills it aims to increase confidence.

In the lead-up to the performances, the Bonnyrigg troupe had to travel to Dapton High School several times to learn the choreography for the routine they described as vigorous.

"Southern Stars is an extraordinary event in which we are all able to develop our skills as individuals and a large dance ensemble," said dance student Victoria Thomas.

In recent years, dance has become an increasingly popular subject of choice at Bonnyrigg High School.
