Stand up comics rise for literacy in Pakistan

Stand-up comedy acts from Saad Haroon and local comedy circuit regular Ade Norman were part of a TCF Educating Children fundraiser.

The show “Stand up for Literacy” was held at the Riverside theatres in Parramatta on August 30 and boasted a heavy presence from local dignitaries including Parramatta Labor MP Julie Owens MP, Greens MP Dr Mehreen Faruqui and Pakistan Consul General to Sydney Abdul Aziz Uqaili.

The show started with the TCF team claiming their first milestone of supporting a primary school in rural Pakistan for a year, followed by two hours of laughter where the comics challenged the status-quo on Pakistan and the Muslim world.

Haroon’s hilarity and aplomb on stage packed a punch for the entire duration of the show. No one was spared, as Saad interacted with the audience, weaving their story into his act with tremendous ease.

The show was a marvelous success for TCF, which reached its charitable goal.
