POLICE are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed part of Bossley Park High School last night.
At 9.30pm, a security monitoring company received an alarm activation and dispatched a guard to patrol the school on Prairievale Road.
The security officer attended and conducted an external patrol of the boundary fencing but found nothing suspicious.
Shortly before midnight, a neighbour observed smoke coming from the school and notified emergency services.
Fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze in the staff room.
Several other rooms suffered smoke and water damage.
Fairfield police also attended and established a crime scene.
With the assistance of the Dog Squad, police commenced a search and found two men, aged 18 and 20 years old, a short distance away.
Officers searched the men and found several cigarette lighters which were seized.
However, the men were released pending further inquiries.
The estimated repair bill for the damage caused to the school is about $150,000.
