CANLEY Vale High School's new principal, Peter Rouse, has a vision for the future, taking in the school and its students.
Mr Rouse, previously deputy principal at Fairvale, said he was not only enticed by Canley Vale High's outstanding academic results, but also "seeing the students' potential and the opportunity to take a school of excellent standard and bringing it to the next level".
Mr Rouse said it hadn't taken him long to recognise the outstanding academic abilities of the student body, and the excellence of his teaching staff.
He said that he intends to put in place plans that with lead to the further development of students, with opportunities in the classrooms that will enhance their chances to achieve their after-school goals.
Some of the changes Mr Rouse is putting in place are cosmetic but are having a great impact. Walls are being repainted and new gardened areas are being created to enhance the school environment.
Mr Rouse says he plans to make the school experience more 'real life', preparing students for what they will meet when they leave to pursue their dreams.
"'We Care' is a motto that doesn't simply mean to make sure students follow rules and attend classes," Mr Rouse said.
"It means to provide students with the best and ask: 'is that enough?'.To care means to listen to the needs of the students to optimise the student's experiences and to provide them with the best opportunities to learn, saying, we listen, more than anything else."
