A man has been arrested and charged after attempting to strangle a woman in Wakeley on Monday.
About 6am, police were called to a home on Windenburn Road following reports a man had allegedly attempted to strangle a woman before attempting to stab her with a knife.
On arrival, police from Fairfield Local Area Command arrested a 38-year-old man before taking him to the police station.
A 37-year-old woman was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics for bruising and cuts to her hand, however she did not require further treatment.
Two girls, aged 11 and 13, also suffered minor cuts to their hands during the incident.
The man has been charged with choke person with recklessness, attempt to strangle with intent to murder and three counts of assault occasioning aggravated bodily harm.
He was refused bail.
