WITH the help of business mentors, a group of Cabramatta High School students are learning the finer points of goal setting and time management.

The select group are taking part in the 2014 GOALS program, hosted by the Australian Business Community Network (ABCN).

The GOALS program offers students the chance to grow and learn new skills with the help of a mentor.

The students will attend five sessions in total.

These theme-based sessions aim to recognise, develop and enhance students' strengths. They also encourage the students to call on the support of their mentors.

The first session focused on the process of achieving a goal. Students were shown the importance of setting achievable goals to ensure their success.

The second session targeted the concepts of communication and presentation.

The presentation component was centred on how an individual should present themselves to create a positive impression.

Students are currently focusing on setting and completing short-term goals in the lead up to their next session.

"I believe the GOALS program will help tremendously in managing goal setting, stress and time management," said participating student Amanda Easterbrook.

"It will also help me handle problematic situations and have an optimistic approach to life."
