NEXT week a group of Cabramatta High School students will test their strength at the 2014 NSW Taekwondo Competition.
The competition will be held on August 10 at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.
It will be the first time the Cabramatta Taekwondo team will compete against other schools.
The students say they are thrilled at the opportunity to fly the local flag at the competition.
"I hope that I will gain a lot of experiences and I hope to win," said team member Siriyakorn Chaimueangmun. "I don't want to be there just to impress the judges or referee."
While preparing for the competition during regular grade sport, the participating year 9 and 10 students have been lucky enough to be given the chance to gain their colour belts.
This was due to involvement of the Martial Arts Spirit Health and Fitness Academy.
As well as their in-school competition training, the team have also taken in practice bouts on Tuesdays and Saturdays outside of school hours.
"I just have to say that Cabramatta High School has set an incredibly high standard for the quality of martial arts training for high school students," said coach Leizel Jayne. "What an amazing and inspiring group of young adults."
