Car park works start

TRANSPORT for NSW will start construction of a multi-storey car park in Canley Vale on August 7. It shut down Canley Vale car park on Monday to prepare for the works, which will take about 12 months to finish. The multi-storey car park will provide commuter parking for the proposed upgrade to Canley Vale station. The existing public toilet will also be demolished during construction. During the works, Fornasier and Westacott lanes will remain accessible. Details: 1800 684 490.

Stormwater award

Fairfield Council's work to improve the stormwater management of Bibbys Place in Bonnyrigg has earned state recognition. The council was presented with the Excellence in Integrated Stormwater Design award at the Stormwater NSW annual conference in Canberra earlier this month. Bibbys Place will now be entered into the National Stormwater Awards, which will be announced at the third national conference on urban water management in Adelaide in October.

Share stories of park

To celebrate Cabra-Vale Memorial Park turning 100 in October, Fairfield Council invites residents to share their stories, memories and photographs of the park, for publication in a book. An event to be held in October will commemorate the original park opening, which took place on October 31, 1914. The stories and memories of the park will show how it has evolved over time and how it has played a central role in community life.
