MATTHEW Flapper and Brett Wilkie each survived close calls in lawn bowls preliminary round matches at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games overnight on Friday.
Flapper edged out England 17-15 in a thriller in men's triples.
This keeps Australian undefeated after four matches
Flapper, Nathan Rice and Wayne Ruediger secured the match with two shots on the 17th end and another two on the last.
It was all Australia early, leading 8-0 after six ends and 13-5 after 11 ends.
England then made its move, picking up five shots on the 13th end and then moving out to a 15-13 lead with two of the 18 ends remaining.
Australia beat Papua-New Guinea 20-10 earlier in the day.
Wilkie and Aron Sherriff had two wins for the day in men's pairs.
Norfolk Island pushed them all the way in a 14-10 result in round three, but it was easier going in a 20-7 win over Jersey.
Wilkie and Sherriff did not shake off Norfolk Island until the 16th end.
Tied at nine-all after 14, they edged away to a five-shot lead with one to go.
Australia now plays Malaysia in men's triples and Namibia in pairs.

Australia had its first loss in the mixed teams tournament.
After defeating Falkland Islands on Friday to have a 2-0 record, Australia lowered its colours to Canada 3-2 in the early hours of Saturday (AEST).
Ballarat's Jeff Tho lost his singles match in straight sets in 26 minutes - 21-10 21-8.
LAURYN MARK - SHOOTING
LAURYN Mark missed a medal in the women's skeet.
Mark, who is married to Ballarat sports hall of fame member Russell Mark, finished equal third in the qualifying round.
She scored 68-75 to be one of six shooters to advance to the semi-finals.
Mark, of Hoppers Crossing, began her semi-final shoot-off strongly with 6-7 to be just one point off the lead, but then lost her way.
She finished in sixth position with 9-16.
Australian Laura Cole went on to win the gold medal.
