Three trucks on fire

Fairfield police are investigating a suspected arson attack on three trucks at Bossley Park on Thursday. Emergency services were called to Sweethaven Road about 1.10am. They found an Iveco prime mover and a Nissan UD truck in flames. The prime mover was destroyed in the blaze. A short time later, firefighters responded to reports of another truck on fire in Sartor Crescent. On arrival, they found a Nissan UD truck on fire. Initial investigations by police suggest all three fires were deliberately lit and possibly linked. Anyone with information should Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Heroin charge

An Edensor Park man has been charged with possessing heroin last Wednesday. About 3pm, the 35-year old man was walking along John St, Cabramatta West. Police said they saw him discard a small foil package as they approached him. They will allege the foil contained heroin. The man will appear in Liverpool Local Court on August 27.

On serious charges

A man is lucky to be alive after he was struck in the head with a wooden pole in Canley Vale last Wednesday, police said. About 5.30pm, he had an argument with a 40-year-old resident in Second Avenue. Police will allege the visitor was struck on the head, arms and back with a wooden pole. A man has been charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail and will appear in Campbelltown Local Court on September 10.
