Man charged over Fairfield shooting

Police investigating a public-place shooting at Fairfield earlier this month have charged a man with concealing a serious indictable offence.

It will be alleged the man did not report to police an incident in which shots were fired at his vehicle in Ware Street on June 6.

Police were made aware of the incident on June 10 and commenced an investigation into the shooting.

This included seizing a vehicle from an Erskineville residence for forensic examination.

Following further inquiries, police arrested a 37-year-man in Arncliffe Street, Wolli Creek, about 9pm yesterday (Wednesday June 25).

He was charged with conceal serious indictable offence.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on July 7.

A 37-year-old woman was already before the courts in relation to this incident.

It’s alleged she was with the man at the time of the shooting, and also failed to report the matter to police.

She was charged with the same offence, and was bailed to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on July 7.
