IT WASN'T the result Jacob Gagan was after — but he'll always remember his NRL debut.
The Cabramatta junior started on the wing for the Cronulla Sharks in the derby against St George Illawarra, won by the Dragons, 30-0.
The 21-year-old had limited chances in attack but managed 11 runs for 99 metres.
Gagan teamed with another Two Blues junior, Nathan Gardner, who was also recalled to the top grade.
Gagan, Fairfield's 2011 sports achiever of the year, joined the Sharks this year after stints with Parramatta and Manly.
Suspended Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan said the youngster had "unlimited potential" when asked about his signing last year.
"He's an Australian Schoolboys representative still eligible for under-20s — but he's too good for that group," he said at the time.
The flying winger has scored seven tries for the Sharks NSW Cup team in 2014, including a double against his former club, Manly.
The former Westfields Sports student is likely to be named back in the NSW Cup team this week with the NRL team having the bye.
