Attempted robbery at Merrylands

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery at Merrylands on June 5.

About 3pm Thursday, a 53-year-old man was standing with his 21-year-old daughter on the corner of Merrylands Road and Treves Street, when a man with his face covered approached them.

The offender attempted to grab a laptop bag off the man before the pair became involved in a scuffle.

A second offender, who also had his face covered, arrived and attempted to steal the bag.

A large number of witnesses started screaming at the two men and they ran off empty-handed.

The victim was left with a large graze to his right knee, while his daughter was not hurt.

Holroyd police are investigating the incident and want to speak with more witnesses.
