Teen charged with firearms offences

A teenager has been charged with firearms offences after a search warrant was executed in Sydney’s west.

About 10.30pm on Wednesday 14 May 2014, officers from the Police Transport Command arrested a 17-year-old male at Parramatta Railway Station over alleged graffiti offences.

He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged and given bail to appear at a children’s court on 11 June 2014.

During his arrest police seized several items that were subjected to forensic analysis.

Following further inquiries, officers executed a search warrant at a home on Hertz Place at Emerton about 8.30am yesterday (Wednesday 4 June 2014).

Two firearms, a rifle and shotgun, were seized from the home along with an amount of ammunition.

The 17-year-old and a 41-year-old man were arrested and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.

The teen was charged with possess unauthorised firearm and possess unregistered firearm and was bail refused to appear at a children’s court today (Thursday 5 June 2014).

The older man was released pending further inquiries.
